Tool Hutch

This is my personal Tool Hutch that I carry my tools and a few samples in when I teach classes or do demonstrations.

This is the front side.  It is approx. 14-16 in. long and holds a good bit of equipment.  I have made straps that can attach it to the back of a saddle.  I few years back, I made a portmanteau for a fella in Maryland.  He promised that I could come and take photos of it...  never happened.

I covered the entire piece with 18th century style images.  I used, "Bowles and Carver" as my primer and adjusted the art to fit my need.  I followed the type styles from, "Penmanship made Easy."  My wife liked it so much that she asked me to make her a one of a kind purse, which I did... and am still doing.  the additions and upgrades will look outstanding when it is finally finished.

One of my hidden signatures is a sun in some fashion.

I like to hide hidden symbols and use roman numerals when ever possible.

This is a hutch that is about half the size of my hutch.  It is done in the Farktur style and is in full polychrome.  If you are into color scrimshaw pieces you should be interested in this one.  I have made no other like it and enjoyed doing it.

"With Horn and Wood such skill he brings a craftsman makes all sorts of things."  This inscription in "Deutch" is indicative of the Pennsylvania Dutch craftsmen who would inscribe pottery, carvings, and pieces artfully done on common everyday things.  1747 is also a hidden signature of mine.  Several pieces un-signed carry the letters E-Z and the date 1747, it's a gimme for collectors and those looking to purchase small pieces I make.
